The Next Graph Paper Press Theme Release

This week has been a fun one here at GPP. I’ve been building lots of new stuff for the Wordpress community, tweaking Wordpress’ gallery functionality and planning my next theme release. What kind of theme (style & function) are you most interested in seeing developed by GPP?
A handful of emails that I have sent have been returned to me as of late. So, if you haven’t received a response to your inquiry, please contact me and double that your email is in fact correct on the contact form.
In the next few days, you can expect to see the launch of GPPTV (screencast tutorials on how to modify and enhance your Wordpress themes) and the release of another photo gallery plugin. But in the mean time, I’m eager to hear the direction that you would like to see in GPP’s next theme release.

  1. Dan says:

I would love to see something geared a little more towards e-commerce; specifically those creating digital media and want to sell it for download on their site. I’m not necessarily asking for a straight up e-commerce solution (cause I know there are plenty out there and that’s not what GPP is about), but it would be nice to see something that lends itself to that kind of design and function.

i’d love to see more magazine themes.. something like the revolution theme series but much better with that GPP touch!

  3. Ade says:

    Thad,
I love the look and feel of your designs, but would like you to tackle two issues:
    1. A F8 style theme designed for photos in portrait orientation rather than the ubiquitous landscape (which is a nightmare for fashion/beauty photographers who 90% of the time work in portrait mode).
    2. From a design development point of view I can see huge benefits in using grid css, but it is not friendly for user customisation. A more semantically based css for the user would be a great advantage and aid customisation.
    Just my tuppence worth! :-)
    Ade.

  4. Steven says:

I’d like to see a magazine style theme along the lines of nymag.com.
Two features that would set it apart include ability to
1: assign different CSS elements to category pages, and
2: auto-thumbnail generation for the main page so that the first image uploaded to the story is auto-sized and used in main page - WITHOUT custom fields for thumbs.

A slightly tweakable category page allows us to have different header images, even colors and ads for different category pages, which are like little portals to the category, e.g. “fashion” might want to use a different header, different colors and different ads.

  5. Cristian says:

I agree with Steven. I’m actually looking for a magazine theme with your aesthetics. My main concern would be ease of use (there for creating a custom control panel would be ideal, and the auto sizing of thumbnails would also be needed).

I really NEED SPACE FOR Advertisements.

If all these requirements were met, I would definately purchase a theme.

If anyone is capable of tweaking a theme like Mimbo, Linoluna, and make it striking It would be your guys.

  6. Lorenz Gude says:

G’day form Australia Thad, I second what ADE said about a theme for portrait/fashion work. I can shoot to fit a heavily landscape proportion but it isn’t natural when photographing beautiful people wearing the clothes that are the product. I really like the f8lite theme - I can make it work for a friend’s business very well out of the box - the slide show is just what they need. In general your work is exceptional. I use another of your themes at newmediatheory.net and it gives the site a lot of class.

  7. Terri says:

I’d like to see a writer-centric theme that is heavily text-based but still has that clean aesthetic as your other themes. I would like the option of making it more graphic based but only if I choose to add images along with written posts. Deadwood and Deadwood-Lite are close to this… so maybe some sort of variation?

  8. Foxy Fashion says:

There are plenty more things here that I haven’t checked out, so I currently have no ideas yet

  9. fangjun says:
