Fullscreen

Fullscreen is a free one-column photography and multimedia theme for Wordpress that can be used for portfolios, photoblogs, videoblogs, and virtually anything else where you want your content to be front and center. It provides visual artists (photographers, painters, videographers, motionographers, illustrators) a better way of presenting their latest work online using a minimalist side-scrolling homepage. Emphasis is placed on your content, rather than on an overly designed theme. If you are a free or paying subscriber to Graph Paper Press, Fullscreen can be downloaded from your member page.

Major Features

  • Side-scrolling homepage packed with thumbnails representing your posts
  • Automatic thumbnail generator with the ability to override the automated thumbnails
  • Built-in HD video player for self-hosting HD quality video
  • Ability to embed video from YouTube (HD), Vimeo, MetaCafe, Seesmic, Google Video, Revver
  • jQuery UI framework for icons

Design philosophy

We think your site should highlight your content, not our design. Our design takes a back seat so that your content can shine through front and center. The homepage of Fullscreen is an amalgam of your latest visual content, organized in a hierarchical manner with your latest five posts featured twice as large as the preceding 20 posts. Single post pages are 950 pixels wide, enabling your post large photos, videos, or other work that is important to you. Three widgetized areas give you customization control over the bottom (footer) region of your site.

Definitely worth the wait! Phenomenal work – miles ahead of anything else out there.

Can’t wait to see the premium version. Any details on what we can expect?

  2. Thanks! I developed four different iterations of this theme over the last three months. I will be working on the premium version over the course of next few weeks. We will have another theme release in the next week or so, too, that is completely unrelated to the Fullscreen theme…..a little treat for waiting patiently!

  3. looks great Thad. congrats.

  4. this looks like a great theme, thanks for the upload

  5. Pepijn van der Linden says:

I’d love to give this theme a try, but it’s not in my download list when I check my profile…? Looks really nice though I must say, love the minimalist and graphics-centered approach in it.

  6. Pepijn van der Linden says:

Nevermind on the first remark, just saw it will be coming ;-) .

  7. This is absolutely gorgeous. I almost want to scrap my current theme entirely for this. Great work guys!

  8. Wow, this is gorgeous! I think I’m switching…

  9. Thanks guys, certainly worth the wait. It is getting harder and harder too choose from all the themes, I guess I will just use them all!

  10. Jerry Redfern says:

I just signed up today and saw this theme. Unfortunately, it doesn’t show up under my available downloads. Is there a trick to it?
It looks lovely – I’d like to try it.

    • “Fullscreen will soon be available as a free theme for everyone to download as soon as we complete development of the premium version of this theme.”

Nice work… can’t wait to try!

  12. Hi Thad. Just a couple requests. A sliding thumbnail navigation that looks Flash-like across bottom of fullpage like SlideshoPro would be preferred navigation. Also, having the default choice of an automatic timed slideshow where we could manually changed the timer and the transition actually being a slide like it currently is. I know it can be done, sure you are familiar with ITDR work, although I think that’s based on Moveable type, although hosted and overpriced. I’ll bet you net more dollars even though cheaper. I love these features and can’t be without, Wordpress has plugins that make something similar popup and work, just no place it’s all nicely integrated. All the best.

  13. Looks fantastic. I noticed the navigation on the front page (and inside too) seems a bit hinky. When I scroll off of it, the drop downs hang up in the “down” position. It seems to run similarly to the nav in Modularity, so I’m guessing this shouldn’t be too difficult to fix.

Also, I love the use of Shadowbox for slideshows in Modularity and I’m wondering if it would be possible to have it as an option in the premium version of Fullscreen. If it can’t be made as an option, a little tutorial on how users could install it themselves would be really nice (hint, hint).

    cheers,
    rodrick

Am I blind or is the link to download this theme missing?

  15. Mark Pimentel says:

Installed it, but am not getting the thumbnails to show up. Been getting a RED X or just the Title text in a link.

    • The big X shows up if you haven’t uploaded an image into the Wordpress post. If you have uploaded the image, and it still isn’t working, make sure you have a folder called ‘cache’ in the fullscreen theme folder and permissions are set to 777.

Please refer to instructions.html if you are confused.

      • Hello, Thad
im having the same problem.no thumbs at all.im quite sure ive uploaded it right and the cache folder permissions are set to 777

  16. Thanks for the useful info. It’s so interesting

  17. Simon Bradley says:

    Looking Great Thad,Thanks.
Now this has come out I’m wondering what the Premium version will be like. Should I hang on…
    Any clues Thad?

  18. hi,

im so excited when i saw this and signed up straight away! but im having trouble with the theme. like mark, i cant get the thumbnails to load on the main page. i followed the instructions given, i get X or text link, tried everything, custom fields, ftp, but still failed. can someone helped pls…..

    k.

  19. The big X shows up if you haven’t uploaded an image into the Wordpress post. If you have uploaded the image, and it still isn’t working, make sure you have a folder called ‘cache’ in the fullscreen theme folder and permissions are set to 777.

Please refer to instructions.html if you are confused.

  20. thanks! it works now!

  21. Looks very cool at first glance. Look forward to checking it out and using it, especially with a thousand or two new photos from a recent SE Asia trip.

  22. Ian Mackie says:

I’m really trying to consolidate where photos are hosted, so I’ve begun using Smugmug for this. Is there anyway, if I reference (via URL for an image) a Smugmug photo in my post, these can be referenced as the thumbnails on the main page? That would really rock…

  23. ola. how do i create a gallery like the sample here – http://graphpaperpress.com/demo/2009/?p=67 ? do i need a gallery plugin?

  24. Hi
You should change your intro wording a little: you say it’s a ‘free theme’ but it’s only available right now to your paying subscribers. Therefore, it’s not actually free at all. I know you say it will ’soon be’ a free theme, but until it is, you should call it what it is.
Otherwise, your themes are all pretty awesome (hm, maybe I should be a paid subscriber ;-) )

  25. Warner Dan says:

    Fantastic!

Will the premium release enable us to easily select or ‘hold’ the five top picture areas with whatever/ whichever posts we like, not just be forced to be the last five posts we happen to put up?

That level of control would be really, really incredibly useful.

PS. Any guess as to the month or week the premium version of fullscreen will hit the streets? Love the built-in video player. Looks & feels great!

    • Yes, the premium version will contain that functionality. Actually, in this free version, I have written instructions for “holding” five at the top.

The premium version should be out in the next few weeks.

  26. adam danyal says:

    scam!

    can’t download it.

only kidding…can’t wait for the release!

  27. I’m sure a lot of work has gone into this theme- but it feels very “random” “busy” and tricky to navigate. The text being light grey is basically un- readable too. Many will love it- but Modularity is still number one :D

  28. Can’t wait to get it…
could you please release the free lite version earlier? ;-) )

  29. Ian Mackie says:

I agree with the ability to ‘lock’ or choose thumbnails for the homepage images.

  30. I absolutely love this theme, just what I was looking for. Any Idea when it will be available? Also, I would love to pay for it now, but your payment allows only credit cards, which are not as common here in Germany. Is there any other way for me to pay and get access to the theme now?

    thanks!

    • You can use a debit card too. Paypal can use any bank card, not just a credit card.

      • Hm, maybe I am overseeing something. Paypal tells me that I need to register a Credit Card. All I can choose from is Visa or MasterCard, which both I do not own.

  32. Pippo Onorati says:

    I can’t install it!

PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature

why? is tha earchive .zip corrupt?
I’ve tried several times.. but nothing
    Is there a mirror download?
    thank you

  33. Vincent Leleux says:

this theme is awesome, thank you so much Thad

Each picture I upload doesn’t appear on the hp. I have to delete the picture from the post and add it again then it appears on the page.

    Any help about it?

    Thanks
    Vincent

  34. Vincent Leleux says:

    Hi,

    It’s me again,
Why on the page About I can add a gallery : when I click on the “add image” button, there is a gallery tab, and for any other page or post this gallery tab is absent?

    Thank you
    Keep up the good work
    Vincent

  35. Frank Hüttner says:

I find the theme gigantic. When it will be available?

  39. HEEEEELLLPPPP !!!!!!!

Now I dont have any support or email to contact and can’t download the new theme and update.

Please contact me and HELLPPPP MEEE !!!

  40. Wow! Can’t wait to have this on my website! It’s truly awesome!
please post the free version before my birthday this July… =)

But, what advantageous features are there in the Premium version?

  41. Hello Chandra and Thad.
We would like to have some feedback about the Premium release. Please…:)

  42. Is the premium version available yet?

  43. Hello
I have a problem on page contend :

Warning: include(lib/video.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/www/vhosts/mywebsite.com/httpdocs/wp-content/themes/fullscreen/page.php on line 12

    Lib/video.php does not exist

    • Hmmm…the quick fix is to open page.php in the theme editor and delete these lines:

      <?php include ('lib/multimedia.php'); ?>
      <?php include ('lib/video.php'); ?>

  44. Is fullscreen a free them? It says it is, but I can seem to download it? I also tried accessing the support area but it continuously asks me to log in, which I’ve done.

If it’s not a free theme, how much is it? I don’t mind spending some money, but I want it to work…

    Thanks.
    A

    • Fullscreen will be available soon for all free memberships. Currently, it is only available to paid members. We wanted to ensure paying members receive first dibs on the theme, which helps with feedback and support inquiries before the wave of free-theme seekers begin to download.

  45. Thanks for the udpate. So if I’m reading your subscriptions properly, for $49 I can get a 3 month subscription to get me the theme now and some support if needed?

Thanks again for the quick response.
    A

    • Yes. This theme will be released to free subscribers as soon as we complete the “premium” version. Plus, we are waiting for WP 2.8.1 to be released, so we can create one blog post with other news, theme updates, etc.

      • Thad,

        Two questions:

What is the status of the premium version?

Does the “Pages” drop-down menu support child pages?

Love the look of this theme – I would very much like to try and combine my portfolio site and blog into this one template.

        David

        • This version doesn’t currently support child pages, but the premium version will. The theme was put on hold so we could update our existing theme set, as WP was releasing lots of updates recently. Plus, I’ve been busy with non-Wordpress stuff.

  46. um… guys?

I might repeat a question others have asked before, but this seems like a fair deal – offering a free theme in exchange for the link to its creator, posted in the footer.

which should give me grounds to ask, is the Fullscreen going to eventually make it to the free themes, or will it stay forever paid? Chandra or Thad, please decide and let us know, as we’re drifting in this limbo for weeks now – a bit more than initially announced. I don’t have a problem with paying for a theme, I just want to know. it might be by far one of the best WP themes out there, but checking each and every day to see if it has been released kind of became a tiresome drill.

or as the previous poster put it, just remove that “free” word from the initial posting – it’s your right to do it, why not do it after all?

    thanks!

    • We have made this very clear: This version of Fullscreen will be free as soon as we complete the premium version. One of the incentives of being a member is you get early access to themes. This helps us make sure that the theme will be bulletproof for when all the free-theme seekers start swarming and downloading. I know the wait is painful. It will be soon, as we are waiting to coordinate on variety of updates, releases, as soon as WP 2.8.1 is released.

  47. Fullscreen can now be downloaded from your Freebie member area.

  48. Is it possible to change the image size on the single post page from 950 wide to 1024?

    • I’m ok about the image size. But now I’m having a problem on the homepage. When I add an image, I only get an X. I tried the cache folder thing but it doesn’t work.

      • I have exactly the same problem. I tried several things but nothing turned out to be the solution. The permissions of the cache folder are set to 777, the media settings are set up correctly … I hope to find a solution soon.

Nevertheless you do a remarkable job Graph Paper Press, which I appreciate very much.

    • Yes, but you will need to know how to edit the theme files and know CSS.
