Introducing Immense: A fullscreen, resizable WordPress theme for pro photographers

Updated on

Immense WordPress theme

Immense is a fullscreen photo slideshow theme that resizes with the browser as it expands and contracts. This theme is ideal for photographers and visual creatives who are looking for a clean and simple way to showcase their images with minimal distractions.

Think Big. Think Mobile. Think Immense.

The Immense WordPress theme is ideal for photographers looking for a holistic photo portfolio and blogging platform that performs beautifully on a variety of desktop and mobile browser platforms, including the iPhone and iPad.  The design philosophy of Immense is two fold: To fade into the background and to highlight your content.

Main Features

  • Fullscreen resizable slideshow – For use on posts, pages or gallery custom post types, the slideshow will automatically adjust to fit your browser size.
  • Automatic theme updates – When a new version is released, you can update automatically from your WordPress Dashboard with one click.  You must have a valid license key (available on your Member Dashboard for paid subscribers) and use Base 1.2 or higher.
  • Video Support – Self-host HD-quality videos and display Mobile-friendly videos.
  • Custom Fonts – Use any font from the Google Font directly.  That’s over 100 fonts folks, and the list grows each week.
  • Custom CSS – Easily add custom CSS to your theme options panel. This future-proofs your customizations.
  • Shortcodes – These allow you to easily add column layouts, boxes and buttons to your posts and pages without modifying CSS, HTML or PHP.
  • Drop Down Menu – Nestle links inside parent or child menu links for a clean, intuitive design.
  • Blog Page Template – Display all blog posts on a separate page.  This helps maintain clear separation between your portfolio and blog posts.

    1. “It allows for fullscreen slideshows that automatically adjust to the size of the browser.”

Wow! that’s really fantastic. Thanks for the great photography theme. 🙂

      1. While it COULD be integrated with PhotoShelter, they don’t offer “automated integration” with it like they do our themes from 2010.  Feel free to reach out to them if you want them to support it. 🙂

    2. Hi Thad,
I am looking seriously at implementing one of the fullscreen/widescreen Graphpaper themes … I love the image getting full weight, as these themes allow.
What I would like to do though, is make sure that there images are shareable in this social media world we’re all in.
In your opinion, what is the best way for integration of Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and email sharing (I am thinking about the use of iPad browsing of Galleries, and the Flipboard like ease of sharing). Thoughts?

      1. Hey Darren,

The best way to share content on social networks is by installing a plugin that accomplishes the desired interaction.  Here is a good place to start:

        http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search.php?q=social+share&sort=

It’s usually best (from a development standpoint) to not “bake in” additional features that not all users prefer.  This is the reason we don’t build social sharing capabilities into our themes.  Plus, there is a plethora of plugins that do this and do it really well.  Let me know what you find in your reseach for this kind of plugin.

    3. Hey Thad,

was looking at this theme and was thinking, as immense displays a gallery as the background to your page (behind the textual content of the page) I was wondering if there is an option or a way to get a traditional gallery i.e a wall of image thumbnails that could be linked to other pages within the textual part of the page? In essence a gallery withing another gallery.

or better still do you know of any plugins that feed into immense to do this?

      Many thanks

    4. Many bloggers are using WordPress for creating sites. It is much easier for them to use it.

    6. Hi – I’d like to change the size of the div tag that shows the title and the caption of the image – where can i find the CSS for this?
